STREET HEAT CAR CLUB--AN UNABRIDGED HISTORY

THE BEGINNING

Although Street Heat Car Club was formed in July of 1994 its origins go back five years earlier. In 1989 there was a Denny's Restaurant, a clientele of freaks and two somewhat "Normal" individuals whos passion for everything muscle car bordered that of manic!  The chance meeting of these two individual named Bob Swartzwelder and Jay "Junior" Horrocks that summer would culminate into a decade and a half of meeting other car people who share that same vision.
The idea of forming a club originally occurred in 1991, but with only two people...and one of those ending up involved in a little international event known as Operation Desert Storm derailed those plans. By 1994 however there was a few more individuals, another coffee shop roundtable discussion and finally Street Heat was born.

CRUISING MAIN, STREET RACING AND GIRLS

A lot of us met while dragging American Fork's Main Street back in the early 1990's and in those early days this was the order of the day. Around the time of the clubs' formation most of our cars were not much to look at but they ran....fast.  Our unofficial "Clubhouse" was the Parking lot of AF Collision Repair where Ken Murdock took us under his wing and gave us a place to hang to keep the local law from breathing down our necks. Even a couple guys ending up working for him during that period.  It wasn't uncommon to drive by The Collision on a weekend and see the lot full of muscle. Those of you reading that we're there know what I mean.

MAN'S DISCOVERY OF PAINT

By the late 1990's a few of the guys married and started families but the fire never died, if anything it intensified and grew stronger. Some of our muscle started getting much needed facelifts that, for some, continue to this day.  Some of the guys added body and paint to their personal resume' while others honed their mechanical skills and became master detailers as well.  This is why in Street Heat the term "Built not bought" became not only a motto but a way of life.

STREET HEAT TODAY

In this new millennium our club has grown to now include 13 couples and 2 singles. There is no club hierarchy (pres, vice pres, etc)so everyone is an equal and members are invited to join with unanimous approval of the club. Friendship comes first and foremost and it's not uncommon to see members doing non-club activities together. If you see us at a car show near you don't be afraid to stop and say hello as we can bench race and swap stories.  Our vision hasn't changed and we still love what we do we are Street Heat Car Club.
